Our Heritage
M G R Hotels Limited was incorporated on 6 June 2005, born from a vision to create accommodation that truly reflected the warmth and character of Yorkshire. From our base at the historic Embsay Mill, we set out to offer visitors something different—a place where industrial heritage meets the timeless beauty of the Dales.
Under the direction of Neil Clifford Roe, the company has grown steadily over nearly two decades, building a reputation for reliability and personal service. We have never sought to be the largest accommodation provider in the region; instead, we have focused on being one of the most welcoming.
Our location at Embsay Mill holds special significance. This historic building, once the beating heart of the local textile industry, now provides the perfect setting for visitors to experience authentic Yorkshire hospitality. The mill's restoration and adaptation represent our broader philosophy: preserving what is good about the past whilst providing the comforts of the present.

Our Journey
M G R Hotels Limited was incorporated on 6 June 2005, with a clear vision to provide quality accommodation in the Yorkshire Dales. The company secured its premises at Embsay Mill, recognising the potential of this historic location.
Following careful renovation and preparation, we welcomed our first paying guests. The early months were spent refining our offerings and establishing the operational systems that would serve us for years to come.
By our fifth year, M G R Hotels Limited had established a solid reputation within the local hospitality community. Repeat guests became a significant part of our business, validating our approach to service.
Our tenth anniversary marked a decade of continuous operation. We took this opportunity to refresh our rooms and facilities, ensuring we remained competitive whilst retaining the character that our guests valued.
The global pandemic presented unprecedented challenges to the hospitality industry. M G R Hotels Limited adapted to new requirements, implementing enhanced cleaning protocols and flexible booking policies to support our guests.
As we approach our twentieth anniversary, we remain committed to the principles that have guided us since 2005. We continue to welcome guests to the Yorkshire Dales with the same warmth and dedication that defined our earliest days.
